Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act
Under Canada's Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act, the Government of Canada has search powers that include wire-tapping and other surreptitious police tools. These are obtained against the accused without the knowledge of participation of the accused, and may last for years. Further, the police may use those recordings when they invite you in to "explain your side of the story".
It is critical that you know your rights, and exercise them in a timely and effective manner. Martin Reesink has experience in advising you on your Charter rights, at the tactical time, so that you may not assist police in incriminating yourself in areas of the law that are largely untested, and often driven by heavy political machinery.
